In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Key

Job security (JS) score 1 (unstable) to 5 (untouchable)
Health (H) score 1 (injury-prone) to 5 (durable)

Chicago White Sox

Closer: Bobby Jenks

Understudy: J.J. Putz

Lurkers: Matt Thornton, Sergio Santos

Chicago White Sox RP Bobby Jenks
Jenks "returns" to closing duties

After a brief flirtation with - well, no one - Ozzie Guillen said Jenks has won back the closer job he really didn't lose in the first place. His improved aggressiveness in his last outing helped.

"I never took the job away from Jenks," Guillen said. "I just said I want Jenks to throw the ball better, and we will put him in a position to get back on track to see what he is. I keep saying this."

Oh, so when Ozzie said the job was open, that meant ... you know, it's probably best to avoid analyzing Ozzie's train of thought. Just be thankful Jenks appears to be back to save chances - for now.

Job security score: 4

Health score: 4

Mound meetings

  • Money talks - and perhaps lies - for the Cleveland Indians. Kerry Wood (finger) will return to closing when healthy, though likely not immediately after he returns. Of course, that's if he sticks with the Tribe.
The righty threw a successful bullpen session Sunday and is slated to throw again Tuesday. He's eligible to return tomorrow if deemed ready. Chris Perez has tossed 11 consecutive shutout appearances (10 1/3 innings). Hold him on fantasy rosters wherever possible and necessary for saves potential, given the trade rumors surrounding Wood.
