Wide Receiver

WR | Brian Hartline | Miami Dolphins | Depth Chart Tidbit
The Miami Dolphins need to find a complement to WR Brandon Marshall in the starting lineup, reports Omar Kelly, of The Sun-Sentinel. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning loves a smart receiver, and he said WR Brian Hartline was the team's smartest receiver a year ago. Hartline led the Dolphins' receivers in yards per reception (16.3) and the team may want the player opposite Marshall to stretch the field. Hartline is considered the team's fastest option at receiver. He could unseat WR Greg Camarillo for a starting job and hold off Davone Bess.

WR | Michael Crabtree | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree is expected to see some time in the slot this season, reports ESPN's John Clayton. The team experimented with it this summer in three-receiver sets.

WR | Early Doucet | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Early Doucet is expected to be the team's No. 3 receiver this year and work out of the slot, reports ESPN's John Clayton. Doucet could be deadly on the inside, reports Darren Urban, of AZCardinals.com, as that is where WR Anquan Boldin previously provided plenty of production. Doucet, per Urban, also worked harder this offseason than he has previously.

WR | Chaz Schilens | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens' (foot) recovery from offseason foot surgery is ahead of schedule, according to Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers.

WR | Brad Smith | New York Jets | Fantasy

TE | Bo Scaife | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy

"If I can stay healthy, the sky is the limit for me. I'm going to have a good year, better than what I had last year. I thought I had a pretty good year last year, but I'd like to have a career year this year," Scaife said.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have placed OT Willie Colon (Achilles') on Injured Reserve, ending his 2010 season.

Defensive Line

DL | Darnell Dockett | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy

DL | Peria Jerry | Atlanta Falcons | Injury
Atlanta Falcons DT Peria Jerry (knee) will be ready to participate when training camp opens, a team official told Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com. "He'll be involved right from the start of training camp. Like any player returning from knee surgery, we'll proceed with some caution and there will be some rest involved. He might not be out there every day for every practice like [QB Matt Ryan], but he'll be out there," the official said. The official stated Jerry did not suffer a torn anterior cruciate ligament last season but would not disclose the injury.

DL | Marques Douglas | Free Agent | Free Agents
The New York Jets will not be re-signing unrestricted free-agent DL Marques Douglas in the near future, a source told Rich Cimini, of ESPNNewYork.com.

Free Safety

FS | Ed Reed | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous item, Baltimore Ravens FS Ed Reed (hip) said he is unsure of when he will return, adding that reports of him missing the first six weeks of the 2010 season are erroneous, reports NFL.com's Jason La Canfora. Reed and his advisor, Brad Davis, have said they have "no clue" when Reed will return. Davis said, "We have no idea when he's ready to return. Anyone who is saying he will miss six weeks, that's just not true. We don't know at this point. He could be back before or after. We just don't know. It's too soon to say. He could be back Week 1 or he could miss the entire season. I seriously doubt he would miss the entire year, but the reality is it's all still up in the air right now."

FS | Darren Sharper | New Orleans Saints | Injury
New Orleans Saints FS Darren Sharper (knee) said he hopes he will not have to wear a knee brace during training camp, reports Robert Stewart, of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. "As a defensive back, if you put any type of brace or anything on your legs, that's a target on you," Sharper said. "That's an X marks the spot, so to say. So they're going to be coming at you."
