In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.
Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.
The Milwaukee Brewers' John Axford let up his first home run of the season Saturday, a bump in his two-win, one-save weekend. His ERA has climbed by the month, and walks will bug him, but the grounder- and strikeout-friendly Axford has not blown any of his 10 save chances this season. He'll continue to hold off Trevor Hoffman for the near future.
Axford may yield to the Hoff for a spell
Caution: As this space has speculated before, maybe Milwaukee eventually lets Hoffman notch the four closures he needs to reach No. 600. The Brew Crew is collapsing otherwise; they need a positive story. At least keep Hoffman close at hand if he's on your waiver wire. Pick him up if save speculation is a top priority.
