Updating an ongoing story, prosecutors are saying that there is no evidence that Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick was involved in "anything that would amount to aggressive or assaultive conduct," according to The Associated Press. Police are also saying that Vick was not the shooter.

QB | Matt Ryan | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (toe) has healed well during the offseason, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff during an interview on SIRIUS NFL Radio. Ryan has a hop to his step that he has not had since joining the Falcons. He has been very focused on his development, trained hard and become stronger during the offseason. Dimitroff also noted Ryan's confidence has improved and he is stepping up as a leader.

QB | JaMarcus Russell | Free Agent | Free Agents
The Oakland Raiders issued a statement that they tried to help unrestricted free-agent QB JaMarcus Russell (Raiders) with issues he was dealing with before they decided to release him, reports The Associated Press. "We did all that we could to intervene and assist with a myriad of issues with JaMarcus Russell. NFL policy restricts our ability to comment publicly at this time. Therefore, those in the media who declare what the Raiders knew or should have known or what the Raiders did or should have done, are reckless, irresponsible and offensive, and do a disservice to all concerned, including the public," the statement said. Russell was recently arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Unrestricted free-agent RB Brian Westbrook (Eagles) has been working out for several weeks at Athletic Dominance in Maryland, according to NFL Network. "This is the first time he's been able to really work out fully and not feel (his previous injuries)," Minnesota Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe said. "This is the first time where he's not being bothered and he's able to explode and really work out and prepare. He looks really, really fluid out there." Westbrook indicated that he would have "no problem" playing for the Vikings this year.

Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga (ankle) worked out for 20 NFL teams Thursday, July 8, but was reportedly hampered by an ankle injury, reports NFL.com's Gil Brandt. Unga measured in at his workout with a height of 6-foot-1, 244 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash at 4.76 seconds and 4.65 seconds, the three-cone drill in 7.41 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.51 seconds. He measured a 9-foot-6 broad jump and a 35-inch vertical jump. Among the teams represented at the workout were the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.

Miami Dolphins RB Patrick Cobbs (knee) said he is making progress in his rehab from knee surgery but is not sure when he will be fully recovered from the injury, reports MiamiDolphins.com's Andy Kent. "I've got a little further to go. Right when I think I feel good, I'm not back to my old self and there's just no other way to look at it," Cobbs said. "But I'm getting better every day and I feel like if we had a game tomorrow I'd be able to give it my all and go just as much as anybody else. The progress is going along well. I don't have a timeline to when I'm going to be 100 percent but it's definitely going well."

Updating a previous report, the Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with third-round draft choice WR Armanti Edwards on a four-year deal worth $2.5 million, a source told Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com. The deal includes a signing bonus of more than $710,000.

Buffalo Bills WR Lee Evans said he believes he will be able to succeed in the offense that head coach Chan Gailey has brought to this team based on the offseason workouts, according to BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown. New York Giants FS Kenny Phillips (knee) said he will be playing in the season opener for the team after undergoing microfracture surgery on his left knee in the offseason, according to NFL Network. "To me, everything is realistic," Phillips said about being ready for the opener. "As far as being a starter, I don't know if they'll throw me out there the first game. I'm not sure. I do feel like I'll get some type of playing time in that first game." He expects to be on the field in some fashion when training camp begins Aug. 1.

New York Giants FS Chad Jones (leg, ankle) will undergo more procedures on his leg and ankle over the next few weeks, which include additional orthopedic, neurological and vascular procedures, reports ESPNNewYork.com's Ohm Youngmisuk.
