In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Cleveland Indians RP Kerry Wood
    Fewer splinters
Kerry Wood didn't have to wait long for another save; he gave up one hit and struck out two in one inning yesterday for his seventh save. More outings like this and Sunday's should help the Tribe trade him. It might not hurt to lock up Chris Perez, even in mixed leagues, if you have the room.
  • Detroit Tigers closer Jose Valverde will have Tuesday off after pitching the last two days (39 pitches, 2 2/3 innings combined). Top setup option Joel Zumaya (elbow) is out for the year after injuring his elbow yesterday. Phil Coke possibly could get the save chance, though manager Jim Leyland might be just as inclined to play the matchups without a dominant setup option.
  • The Chicago White Sox's Bobby Jenks is slated to return Tuesday or Wednesday after leaving the team to be with his wife, who is ill. Matt Thornton and J.J. Putz are back in their usual setup roles with Jenks back.
