As a result, Smith realized that he doesn't want to run Turner into the ground, and added there will be "parameters" on how often Turner carries the ball this season. The Falcons won't go into a game saying he'll be restricted, but they do want to be more conscious of the physical pounding Turner takes.

Offensive Tackle

OT | Donald Penn | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Free Agents
Tampa Bay Buccaneers C Jeff Faine said he believes the contract situation of restricted free-agent OT Donald Penn could be a distraction if it is not handled by the start of training camp, reports Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times. "It could (become a distraction). I think so," Faine said. "And I'm not necessarily saying it's his fault, either. I think that each side of the field needs to even out. Let's meet in the middle and get this going. As an offensive line, you like to have continuity. You like to have guys working together all the time. We've changed quite a bit this off-season and that's something he's going to have to catch up on."

Guard

OG | Eric Wood | Buffalo Bills | Injury
Buffalo Bills OG Eric Wood (leg) is taking part in individual drills during practice Wednesday, June 23, according to CBSSports.com.

Tennessee Titans rookie DL Derrick Morgan hasn't been able to make much of an impression this offseason, according to John Glennon, of The Tennessean. He strained a hamstring on his first day of summer workouts and later injured his calf, leaving him unable to perform at top speed. The Titans had hoped Morgan would be back at full speed for the final week of offseason workouts, but Morgan has been inactive. "We could choose to get him out here and try to do the drills and subject him to a setback potentially," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "(But) we decided we're just going to wait. We'd rather have him training 100 percent in the month of July and coming to camp.''

"Are we disappointed the Broncos have not approached us about a contract extension? Obviously, we are," agent Jack Reale said. "A player of Champ's caliber deserves to have the option of an extended contract. This is a guy who essentially was a six-time Pro Bowler (if not for an injury in 2008) in his six years there. Anyone with any kind of football knowledge knows his skills have not diminished, as evidenced by the fact he didn't allow one touchdown in 80 passes thrown his way last year, played in 98 percent of the snaps and remains one of the best-tackling cornerbacks in the game."
