In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • You can add another blown save for the Milwaukee Brewers' Trevor Hoffman. He failed to record an out today, giving up three runs on four hits. His ERA climbed to 13.15. He has as many blown saves as he does saves.
How long can Milwaukee keep trotting the Hoff out there in the ninth? Todd Coffey and Carlos Villanueva aren't giving them many reasons to make a change with LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) still on the DL.
  • Carlos Marmol blew his second save of the season for the Chicago Cubs. He gave up a walk when the bases were loaded. After that, he struck out three in 1 2/3 innings. The Cubbies won in extras.
Chicago still has trouble getting to Marmol. Setup man Carlos Zambrano is being moved to long relief. They don't have an immediate replacement. Southpaw Sean Marshall has pitched well and could be the first bridge, at least until Esmailin Caridad settles down. Marmol also might see a few more inning-plus save opps for now.
  • Chicago Cubs RP Carlos Marmol
    Marmol just wants some help
Philadelphia Phillies stopper Brad Lidge (elbow) has opted for a cortisone shot in his right elbow. He's expected to begin a throwing program in the next several days. Jose Contreras, you da man.
  • The Colorado Rockies' Huston Street (groin, shoulder) was able to walk without any pain in his right groin, but he won't be back on a mound for around another week. A return on May 25 is too soon now, but he might not return much later once the calendar flips to June. The shoulder hasn't been a problem in this latest setback, either, per Street.
Franklin Morales (shoulder) played long toss from 180 feet yesterday. He'll throw a bullpen session today.
Manuel Corpas should be available today after being stapled to the bench yesterday because of his recent workload.
  • Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Aaron Heilman worked the ninth yesterday. He gave up the only run in the D-backs' 5-1 win, however, in what could have been a test to check out his ninth-inning mentality.
