In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every
closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance
and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.
Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing
the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy
Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for
saves.

Mound meetings
- A second opinion on Huston Street's
right shoulder resulted in positive news. The Colorado
Rockies' injured closer still aims to return in early May, but his return
date won't be more defined until he actually throws off a mound. It appears
the club isn't interested in rushing him back. Good thing given Street's lengthy
injury history.
- How did his replacement do? Franklin Morales
hit a batter and threw a wild pitch; the final two outs of his save were both
line drives - one requiring a great snag by shortstop Troy
Tulowitzki. That's hardly inspiring from the young stopper, who has struggled
with his control before. Remember, manager Jim
Tracy hasn't fully committed to Morales. As we said yesterday, righties
Manuel Corpas, Matt
Daley and Matt Belisle are all
worth consideration in NL-only games, in that order.
- Houston Astros reliever Samuel
Gervacio struck out two in a perfect ninth yesterday. He probably
won't be in line for saves for a while with Matt
Lindstrom and Brandon Lyon ahead
of him. However, neither of those stoppers have great track records, be it
with health or experience. At the very least, Gervacio should help your ratios
in mixed and NL-only leagues.
