NFL.com reports University of QB Sam Bradford (shoulder) will not work out at the NFL Scouting Combine while he recovers from shoulder surgery that ended his 2009 season, according to a source close to the situation. Bradford will attend the NFL Combine for tests and interviews. Bradford will not work out for NFL scouts until March 25, according to NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

QB | Jason Campbell | Washington Redskins | Free Agency News
Matt Mosley, of ESPN.com, reports the Washington Redskins likely will offer impending free-agent QB Jason Campbell the highest tender, which is about $3.1 million.

Chrissie Wywrot, of DetroitLions.com, reports Detroit Lions RB Kevin Smith (knee, shoulder) said everything is going well in his rehab but is not sure when he will be able to return. "I don't want to put any stakes on it. I just know that I'm going to be ready for next year. How soon? I don't know. But everything's going good so far, so I'm just going to continue to work and go day by day," Smith said.

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports free-agent RB Jamal Lewis (Browns) failed his physical with the team, according to a league source. The team had not indicated why the released Lewis from his contract earlier this week. Lewis had dealt with concussion problems during the 2009 season.

Nick Scurfield, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said RB Steve Slaton (spine) is doing well after undergoing surgery. Kubiak added, "I wish I could describe exactly what they did, but he will be in OTAs, he'll be in all the offseason work. He will not be able to be a part of any contact and should be cleared for training camp, so all systems are go. There shouldn't be anything holding him back as long as he recovers correctly.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have been in discussions with impending free-agent SS Roy Williams about a new contract. Jordan Woy, agent for Williams, said that the two sides will continue to talk.

Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, speculates the Miami Dolphins will not try to sign Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin this offseason. Dolphins vice president of football operations Bill Parcells has signed a restricted free agent that received the highest tender from another team before. However, Parcells might not go after Austin because of his great relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports Missouri WR Danario Alexander (knee) underwent surgery on his left knee Wednesday, Feb. 17. He will not work out at the NFL Scouting Combine or his pro day March 4 at the University of Missouri. League sources said Alexander will still attend the NFL Combine as well as his school's pro day to meet with teams. Sources familiar with the injury said it was a "new" injury, and unrelated to Alexander's previous knee problems.

Mike Duffy, of BaltimoreRavens.com, reports Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent WR Derrick Mason said he would like to make a decision soon on whether he will retire or play next season. "I want to make a decision quickly," Mason explained. "But, it all depends if the situation is right. If I'm back in Baltimore, or anywhere else, it all depends on the situation and what teams are out there that I'm considering. If I've made the decision that I'm coming back, and there's a team that has an opportunity to make the Super Bowl, then I'll make my decision," Mason said.

"It's not the start of anything, I'm sorry," Agnone said. "We talked. It's no big deal, no story. We simply said hello, how are you? And he told us they liked Kyle. I do, too. But that's it."

Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports the Green Bay Packers will likely need to use a second-round tender on impending restricted free-agent DE Johnny Jolly to ensure another team won't sign Jolly should he be acquitted in trial. The tender carries a $1.759 million salary and means any team signing Jolly would have to give up a second-round draft pick. If Jolly's trial had ended before March 4 and he had been found guilty, the Packers might have been able to use a lower tender on him.

The procedure was not considered serious and he should be available for the start of the team's offseason workouts in March.

Albert Breer, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots impending free-agent CB Leigh Bodden said he hopes to re-sign with the Patriots rather than sign with another team during free agency. "I just let my agent handle (the negotiations). It's just, first and foremost, trying to talk to the Patriots and seeing if we can get something done there." Bodden said.
