The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez's (knee) surgery to repair the patella ligament in his left knee went "exceptionally well." Sanchez tweeted after the procedure Wednesday, Feb. 17, that team doctors said it was a success. He will miss some offseason workouts, but he should be completely healthy by the start of training camp.

Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times, reports unrestricted free-agent RB Jamal Lewis (Browns) is considering retirement because of the concussion issue he dealt with this season.

Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com, reports Washington Redskins running backs coach Bobby Turner said he believes RB Clinton Portis still has something left to contribute to the Redskins. "Oh, he definitely has something left," Turner said. "We were excited about Clinton when we drafted him. I've looked at a bunch of his games, pretty close to every one...and he definitely has something left."


Wide Receiver

Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports the Cleveland Browns are moving closer on a new deal with WR Josh Cribbs. The two sides have the framework of a three-year deal in place that would replace the final three years of his current contract. The main sticking point at this time is the amount of guaranteed money, according to a source. Cribbs is looking for $10 million in guaranteed money while the team is offering half of that at the moment. The Browns could add a team option year or two to the contract.

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports the Baltimore Ravens have talked recently with WR Derrick Mason, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. General manager Ozzie Newsome said, "I did have a discussion with Derrick. We would like for Derrick to remain a Raven."

NFL.com reports Georgia Tech WR Demaryius Thomas (foot) broke his foot working out Tuesday, Feb. 16, according to the NFL Network's Mike Mayock. Thomas' agent says it is a clean break and will take four to six weeks to heal and rehab. It is unknown if Thomas will be able to work out for anyone before the 2010 NFL Draft, but his agent says he will be ready for any team activities.

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said the team will try to sign impending restricted free-agent WR Miles Austin to a long-term deal but it may be difficult to do because of the uncertainty of whether there will be a salary cap in the future. Jones said he expects Austin to receive a long-term contract at some point.

The Baltimore Ravens announced Wednesday, Feb. 17, that they have signed free-agent WR Donte' Stallworth (Browns) to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times, reports the Baltimore Ravens have terminated the contract of TE Quinn Sypniewski (knee). He recently underwent knee surgery and failed his physical.


Offensive Guard

Ian Rapoport, of the Boston Herald, reports Neil Cornrich, agent for New England Patriots impending free-agent OG Stephen Neal, said Neal wants to test free agency but is willing to re-sign with the Patriots. "All things being equal he would love nothing better than to play his remaining years with the Patriots," Cornrich said.

Updating an ongoing story, Jeff McLane, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles OG Stacy Andrews said Wednesday, Feb. 17, that he is willing to restructure his contract. Andrews said, "I would do a minor restructuring of my contract. They want to do an adjustment and we're willing. Hopefully, we can come to an agreement." Andrews said he would be willing to take a cut, but he "wouldn't mess with the roster bonus." Andrews is scheduled to earn a $4.1 million bonus that would be paid out in early April.

Updating previous reports, Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports the Tennessee Titans have signed OG Eugene Amano to a new five-year contract that will run through the 2014 season, according to a league source. Amano will receive $12 million in 2010 and will earn $18 million over the first three seasons, according to a source. He will receive a $7.25 million signing bonus and $3.087 million of his 2010 salary is guaranteed. He will earn a base salary of $5.265 million in 2010, $2.68 million in 2011, $3.18 million in 2012, $3.685 million in 2013 and $4.187 million in 2014.

Albert Breer, of the Boston Globe, reports Neil Cornrich, agent for Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent LB Mike Vrabel, said Vrabel believes he will be able to play a few more seasons. "He feels he has a number of productive seasons left, he loves playing in the NFL, he loves the game. He'll probably continue with it in another capacity after he's done playing, but he wants to continue as a player, as long as he can a team win games," Cornrich said.

Darren Urban, of AZCardinals.com, reports Arizona Cardinals general manager Rod Graves said the team is interested in re-signing impending free-agent LB Karlos Dansby but will let him explore his other options. If we are able to meet that, I think we can get him back. If not, we'll make a decision on it based on the situation."
