ESPN.com reports Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen (toe) said during an interview on Sirius NFL Radio that recovery from surgery to repair tendon damage in his right toe will prevent him from participating in drills at the NFL Scouting Combine. "I'm planning on doing all the interviews and, obviously, being seen by the doctors so they can see my toe, but my toe isn't ready to go right now," Clausen said, according to NFL.com.

The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez (knee) is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday, Feb. 17, to repair the patella ligament in his left knee. Sanchez should be completely healthy by the start of training camp in July. The procedure is expected to help prevent future tweaks to the kneecap area.

Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said restricted free-agent WR Miles Austin will be staying put with the team for the 2010 season. In all likelihood, the Cowboys will put a tender offer worth $3.168 million on Austin, which would require a team to fork over first- and third-round draft picks as compensation. Jones has said the team wants to sign Austin to a long-term deal. "We're just not going to have Miles Austin any place but with the Dallas Cowboys," Jones said during a radio interview. "We need him."

Alge had a good season, meshed with the team and was a good force in the locker room ... He just wants to hear what needs to be said. However, as a restricted free agent, Edwards doesn't hide the fact he's not happy he won't be able to shop his services on the open market. His angst only grew when he learned NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made more than $9 million in 2008. "I don't see him out there getting hit or nothing like that," Edwards said. "The commissioner makes $9 million, so you tell me where the balance is? He doesn't put his life on the line, he pushes a pen." As an unrestricted free agent, Edwards could have looked for a long-term deal after getting 8.5 regular-season sacks and then adding four in the playoffs. He has been told by the Vikings that they will tender him an offer, meaning he's almost certain to get a one-year contract.
