James Walker, of ESPN.com, reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) declined an invitation to the 2010 Pro Bowl because of the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 17. Team doctors and trained recommended that Roethlisberger allows his shoulder to get fully healthy.

Updating a previous item, David Scott, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (finger, Achilles') underwent successful surgery on his left Achilles' tendon Wednesday, Jan. 20. Stewart's agent, Ben Dogra, would not say what the severity of the injury had been, but he said the surgery was to alleviate "lingering pain." Stewart is expected to be ready for the team's minicamp in May. Dogra said Stewart also had minor surgery on a pinky finger.
