In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players that you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football sleepers: Defensive teams

Cleveland Browns at Detroit Lions

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Hurting for a defense this week? Beneath their overall ineptitude, the Browns have snuck in some semblance of a fantasy defense with 2.40 sacks per game in the last six weeks (five games). Their inability to create takeaways (1.60 total per game in that time) has limited their usefulness.
  • The Lions should help: 3.80 sacks allowed and 2.20 giveaways per contest since Week 4. In fact, rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford has been sacked at least twice in five of his six games this season.
  • Sure, his five-interception disaster in Week 9 skews Detroit's usefulness, but you shouldn't expect him to be mistake-free. He has given defenses at least one aerial gift in four of his six games.

NEW - San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • When you face Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, your defense has ample opportunities to record fantasy points. The Niners' Week 10 matchup with him helped boost their totals, which don't stand too tall among defensive units (1.50 per game).
  • Despite their lack of giveaways this year, the Packers can enhance any team's pass rush; they've allowed 4.00 sacks per game, and they're still tinkering with their offensive line in Week 11.
  • If points allowed doesn't hurt your fantasy defense much, the Niners' odds of recording sacks can buttress their contribution to your team.
