Quarterback

QB | Matthew Stafford | Detroit Lions | Injury News
Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz reiterated Monday, Oct. 12, that QB Matthew Stafford (knee) remains the team's starting quarterback. However, Stafford's status for Week 6 remains uncertain with a knee injury. Schwartz said the team would see how much Stafford practices and how his knee progresses throughout the week. Stafford does not necessarily need to be 100 percent, but must be mobile enough to escape trouble and protect himself. If he can't play, QB Daunte Culpepper would start.

QB | Marc Bulger | St. Louis Rams | Injury News
Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams QB Marc Bulger (shoulder) will be the team's starting quarterback in Week 6, according to head coach Steve Spagnuolo, assuming Bulger is fit and looks good throwing the ball in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14. The team was hoping to give Bulger an extra week off in Week 5 before starting in Week 6, however an injury to QB Kyle Boller (concussion) forced Bulger into action.

QB | Eli Manning | New York Giants | Injury News, Fantasy
Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants QB Eli Manning (foot) said his foot felt fine Monday, Oct. 12, after the team's Week 5 game. He is still planning to practice Wednesday, Oct. 15, and hopefully all week long. "I felt good," Manning said. "I moved around and didn't have a setback by any means. I feel like it's getting better every day and should feel better this week and keep improving." Manning said his goal is to have three full practices this week as the team heads into their Week 6 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

He has been on the team's physically unable to perform list the first part of the season. Smith may eventually receive a look at least as a part-time back. Smith said he feels good, but he still needs to go through contact drills to see how his knee responds. "Whenever they say I can play, I'll be out there. I want to make sure I'm right before I come back," Smith noted.

RB | James Davis | Cleveland Browns | Injury News
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports two witnesses say Cleveland Browns RB James Davis (shoulder) injured his shoulder during a post-practice drill in which he was not wearing pads and the linebacker that hit him was. However, a team spokesman said that was untrue Saturday, Oct. 10. The NFL is aware of this incident and is investigating it. "This is an outrage," said a high-ranking NFLPA source. "We have a no-pads rule for offseason activities. We've never seen a need to have a rule that if some guy has on pads, he can't take on a guy without pads. The commissioner's office needs to look into this."
