QB | Kellen Clemens | New York Jets | Depth Chart Tidbit
New York Jets QB Kellen Clemens said he feels confident after head coach Rex Ryan named him the No. 1 quarterback entering training camp. "It means a lot going into it. He said his approach is to do whatever he can to prepare himself and his teammates to be in the best position to win a championship this year. He said he is not worrying himself with the potential of rookie QB Mark Sanchez seeing more reps with the first-string as training camp continues. QB | Matthew Stafford | Detroit Lions | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports there is a popular belief the Detroit Lions will sit rookie QB Matthew Stafford for the first few games -- or possibly the entire season -- so he can gain experience and seasoning. However, according to Kowalski, that isn't accurate. If Stafford sits, it is going to be because he wasn't good enough to win the starting job.

The Lions want to give the bulk of their snaps to their starting quarterback - either Daunte Culpepper or rookie Matthew Stafford - going into the third preseason game, as that is the time the team begins focusing on Week 1. It is possible the competition could be too close to call at that point, but the Lions want to limit their distractions entering the season.

He's just got to heal up and he'll be back in soon enough," Reid said. Reid feels Westbrook, who is now pain free and responding well to treatment, is a little ahead of schedule, but the team is going to continue to monitor his progress. "He is doing well," Reid added. Williams said he always enters seasons with a chip on his shoulder, but this year sounds different for him. "Everybody thinks I suck, and I just have something to prove, not to prove that I don't suck, just to prove I can be a consistent ballplayer," he said.
