Pros: This rookie has a similarly wide-open (maybe better) chance to make an impact - he has a more stable quarterback (Eli Manning) and some uninspiring options to beat out for time. Nicks reminds us of the Arizona Cardinals' Anquan Boldin - not overly tall but a rolling barrel during his routes. Being a target that can create separation, Hicks has the best combination of size and skills to replace Plaxico Burress in the Giants offense. Nicks showed great growth in his senior season at the University of North Carolina with 68 receptions, 1,222 yards and 12 scores; Nicks suited up for renowned pro-style head coach Butch Davis, which should help his transition to the Giants.

Cons: While Nicks has a ton of upside, he still has to fight with Domenik Hixon and Steven Smith, who have more experience in Kevin Gilbride's offense. The G-men still run a ton and don't plan to change that. Much taller fellow rookie Ramses Barden (6-foot-6) would be the best Plax-type receiver if he becomes more polished. 

Fantasy tip: Nicks is a suitable upside No. 5 wideout; Eli needs someone to make big plays, and while Hixon can be that guy, Nicks may have an easier time abusing opposing defensive backs. You can typically acquire him at a better value than Crabtree; Nicks falls on average in the 12th round of 12-team setups. Assume the typical rookie wideout risks when deliberating over adding him.
